Do you have 6 minutes?

Meet Justin: a friend, co-worker, and an inspiration. We laughed, cried, and bonded in a scorching hot apartment together while shooting this piece. It was heartbreaking, shocking, and motivating all at once.

Alice Ride and I launched this docu-series to raise awareness and check in with our community. As we dove into mental health in the film industry, more stories surfaced from our film family. Like a group therapy share, this project aims to provide a platform for stories to be heard.

Our episodes are intentionally longer, surpassing typical social media video tolerances. Each video's length reflects the time each individual needed to share their truth. Respecting that was non-negotiable.

This is a moment to sit with Justin. To create that (digital) space for him. I promise, his energy vibrates past the screen.

I appreciate you so much my friend.

Love you Justin and thank you ♥️

TRIGGER WARNING: This episode discusses mental health struggles, including suicide.

From Set Protect about BEING SCENE docu-series.

Our series delves into the lives of the Canadian film industry community, immersing ourselves in their unique stories of struggles and hope.

Sharing personal stories about our challenges reinforces feelings of strength. It is also a powerful tool to combat stigma and shame. By “being seen” through our stories we have a greater sense of belonging, it connects us to our communities and the people within them.

Storytelling is also a catalyst for change. By sharing our experiences we inspire others to seek the help and support they need. It also has the power to change the culture around health and well-being in the entertainment industry.

We hope something in this series resonates with you, and that you feel seen by watching.

Please note: this episode mentions mental health challenges that could be triggering, including suicide.

the nature of beauty

Wild Beauty: Ode to BC Women during Covid

The rugged west coast of British Columbia naturally bears special women. They are fearless and unapologetically themselves, they face challenges head-on. Their connection to nature coexists with their urban, mechanical and tech-savvy side, creating a hands-on and harmonious approach to life. They have a natural outer beauty and an honest inner beauty.

The covid pandemic forced us all into isolation, where many West coasters took to embracing solitude and finding resilience in the repetition of time in nature and on the seas. West coast women are powerful forces, ready to confront life's obstacles with femininity, self-dependence and strength.

This is my homage to BC women, my friends, my sisters.

This is a portrait of West Coast Beauty to me.

Happy BC Day ♥️

hello.

Sooo, I’ve not done this before. This is new and exciting to be journaling publicly!

Going by feel, feels pretty good.

I call this page MY NORTH STAR because it represents what I love, value and am excited about.

I'm all about creating films that bring hope and offer solutions. I love diving into themes of innovation, women, subcultures, and the youth because representation in media matters. It makes me feel ah-mazing, and I want others to experience that too! #lifegoals = cultural impact!

I’m always interested in being a part of any project that illustrates and provokes self-healing. Ultimately, I hope to help encourage a culture of caring: caring for each other and most of all caring for your Self.
